This woman truely had big dreams! I have never thought about buying land and figuring out how to do it. She is truely learned in all area’s of life! Business, creativity, bettering her family, I’m amazed!

    2. Is there a specific area of your life that came to mind in which to apply this chapter?

I need to have dreams about how to better the life of my family! Instead of personal dreams. Like the chapter said, it is better to be selfless!

    3. List what the following passages say about goals. How can you apply them in your own life?

    - Prov. 14:11 live uprightly. If I am living to please God, being honest, doing what’s right, my family will flourish. I won’t be bringing harm on us.

    - Prov. 22:1 It’s more important to have a good name that money. Especially if getting money means I would have to do something that would ruin our reputation. Act with intengrity and goodness even when in need or when really wanting something.

    - Prov. 31:28 Act in such a way that my children and husband will call me blessed. Don’t be selfish, be honest, hard working, speak good of people and don’t dwell on negetives. Be like the woman in Proverbs 31. hard working, wise,

    4. Of the list of P’s under the 1st step in “The How-to’s of Beauty”, what are two that you see needing to be applied in your life? How? How can you plan to grow in these areas?

patience and prayerfulness. I need to remeber that just because there is an opportunity, doesn;t mean I should take it. Whether I should take it or not depends on a lot of things, timming, money, husband, my motives, God;s direction. And being prayerful about it will help reveal to me my own wrong motives and also whether it follows God’s principles in the Bible.

Thanks for your post, Charissa. I’m feeling a lot better these days… Thanks for asking! Now I’m just trying to keep up with everything that’s going on – house, work, ministry, family… Lots to do! I hope you’re doing well! And thanks for your faithfulness in this study – it’s a big encouragement to me…

That I need to SLOW down when I’m making decisions… I usually try to consider all angles in a decision I’m making but then when it looks good to me, I want to do it NOW. Move on, get it done. Having actually carried out decision in this manner, I have learned that it is best to sit back for a period of time and think through everything AGAIN. To take the time to seek advise and give those people the time to consider their counsel before they give it. Even when I seek my husband’s advice (or before I was married, my parents), I tend(ed) to want the answer NOW. They needed to hurry up or somehow my opportunity might be missed. Then I have to consider where my trust is in that. God is in control and blesses those who seek counsel and take the time to seek His will. When I go charging ahead of Him, that’s when I get into trouble. I have also learned, the hard way, that it is important to seek counsel. In our one year of marriage, there have been more than one ideas I’ve brought to my husband only to have him show a different side that I hadn’t thought of that proves the idea to not be such a great one.

    2. Is there a specific area of your life that came to mind in which to apply this chapter?

My schedule – this is an ongoing struggle for me. I don’t ever want to say no and so end up stretching myself too thin. Instead of saying yes right away, I need to take the time to pray, to seek my husband’s advice, and then to willingly submit to that advise if he says that I should say no (saying no is so hard sometimes!). Also, I can apply this in the little improvements and purchases that I want to make for our house. I’ve found it’s important to not be impulsive as waiting has paid off in finding better deals later and in making sure that my purchase is something that my husband would like.

    3. List what the following passages say about goals. How can you apply them in your own life?

    - Prov. 14:11 I need to be seeking God’s will in what I do pertaining to our house and family… It is only by Him that I can be righteous and do righteous things and make righteous decisions. Anything that I do in selfishness or in haste, I can expect to be overthrown. Haste makes waste! So before I get into a project or purchase, I should take the time to make the right decision. Will my decision bring glory and honor to God?

    - Prov. 22:1 I need to watch my motives in things. The wealth and gain from a decision is not the most important thing. Will it compromise myself or my husband in any way? Being upright in what I’m doing is much more important than trying to make the most profit or gain. It’s not so much what I get, but how I get it? In this decision, am I showing that my treasure is here on earth and temporary or am I storing up things for eternity?

    - Prov. 31:28 One of my goals in life is to be a blessing to my husband and children (if and when the Lord should bless us with them). So, as I’m considering the things that I’m doing or buying or whatever, that needs to be high on my priority list. Will it do them good or evil?

    4. Of the list of P’s under the 1st step in “The How-to’s of Beauty”, what are two that you see needing to be applied in your life? How? How can you plan to grow in these areas?

I second Charissa on this one – prayerfulness and patience. Waiting on the Lord is so important and yet can be so hard when I want to do something NOW. But, how am I to stay in His will if I am not quiet and content to wait for Him to reveal it to me? And how can I know His will if I don’t bring my requests before Him? If I’m rushing ahead and in a hurry, I will miss out on possible problems that would be made obvious if I took the time to consider them. And, Charissa, I thought that was a really good point about waiting and praying to make sure that my motives are right. How gracious God is to give us the means to avoid bad decisions BEFORE we make them and end up in the middle of them with no turning back!
